He was born on September 18,1975 in Concord, Massachusetts to parents Kenneth and Mildred Boyd, while his father was on active duty at nearby Fort Devens. He had an active life despite several medical conditions, living in several towns, most notably Bel Air, Maryland where he graduated from C. Milton Wright High School in 1993.
After high school, Tim attended Virginia Tech majoring in environmental science. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, serving as president in his senior year. Upon graduation he relocated to Raleigh to work alongside his brother in the IT infrastructure and system security field. Later he founded his own IT services company eventually bringing him to work for several global IT companies. He was last employed with Red Hat where he was a Manager of Global Finance and Operations for Red Hat's Partners.
Tim enjoyed being outdoors and finding adventures. He loved the beach and the mountains immensely, spending time at the beach with his family in both Wilmington and Emerald Isle, NC, camping and off- roading with his Land Cruiser.
Besides his parents, Tim is survived by his wife Jennifer Maurer Boyd, and his two beautiful daughters; Hayden, a rising junior at UNC Chapel Hill and Maddie, an ECU bound freshman. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Chris and wife Lori and their two daughters, Reagan and McKenna. He is also survived by his wife's family to whom he was very close; her parents Bruce and Sara Maurer and her twin sister Jamie Lawson and husband John.
Tim's personality and easy-going demeanor rewarded him with a large group of friends- too numerous to count. Besides his best friends from college Glen Seiditz, Rob Jolly, and Corey Pudhorodsky, he was very close to his neighbors in Raleigh and colleagues at his work.
The family would also like to thank the professional staff of 7 East and 7 West and his surgical teams at the Duke Medical Heart Center for their thoughtful and caring support during Tim's pre- and post-surgical stay. Though none of them would have preferred this outcome, he couldn't have asked for a better team.
A celebration of Life is planned for the Fall.
