After graduating Valedictorian of her High School class, Ginny attended The College of William & Mary, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa, majoring in Music & Education. In December, 1958, Ginny married Lt. J.G. Preston H. Gada. Ginny taught 1st grade in Coronado, California while Preston finished his Navy service and then in Richmond, VA, while he completed medical school. They then lived in Hingham, MA, while Preston completed a surgical residency. In 1969, Preston’s career brought them to Raleigh, NC.
Ginny’s lifelong love of music and teaching led her to dedicate many years to the Children’s Music Program at White Memorial Presbyterian Church. Ginny was a member of the Raleigh Fine Arts Society and served as a docent at the Governor’s Mansion. Some of her fondest memories were of traveling for adventure, art, music, history, and cuisine. Preston and Ginny shared a love for cycling and found themselves on their tandem bike throughout Europe and the United States, including Hawaii.
Ginny is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Preston Gada; by her two children Kathy Love and Dr. Will Gada; and by her beloved grandchildren, Nick & Grace Gada. She is preceded in death by her parents.
