Wanda Lee Westmoreland Jinol, 70, passed away after a long duration of declining health on July 16, 2019 at Pruitt Healthcare in Raleigh. Born on May 1, 1949 in Pemberton, West Virginia; she was the daughter of the late Roscoe Westmoreland and Macie Agee Westmoreland and wife of the late Salvador “Sam” Jinol, Sr.
Wanda was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and sister in Christ to many. She met the love of her life Sam "Pineapple" Jinol at Bowl Wick Lanes in Beckley West Virginia in 1977. They married on April 30, 1977 and enjoyed 24 wonderful years together before his passing on June 20, 2001.
Wanda graduated from Sophia High School in 1968 and went on to work tirelessly in support of her family for over 40 yrs in accounting and HR, along with many other service-related jobs. She had her short comings along the way like anyone else but they attributed to her passion to care for others, many times to the detriment of her own self. She was the most giving wife and mother and made many harsh sacrifices to ensure her family was taken care of. Most of all she made sure her son had the best opportunity to succeed, and often did without in doing so.
She was an active member of Creedmoor Road Baptist Church where she passionately enjoyed praising our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Along with attending church, she overly enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in Joy Club with her Sisters in Christ. However, her most passionate job over the past 2+ years was being Grandma to her loving granddaughter, Makena Ann Jinol. Nothing in this world put a bigger smile on her face as did each moment she spent with her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by many.
She is survived by her son: Salvador “Sammy” Jinol II, wife Keely and most proudly her granddaughter Makena of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends, including her church family.
A Celebration of Wanda’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Creedmoor Road Baptist Church (6001 Creedmoor Road in Raleigh). Family will receive friends after the service.
