Tempo passa rápido. 5 anos... Reed foi mais que um amigo pra mim de 2018 até dezembro de 2019. Só o vi uma vez em meu país em August 24th, 2013. A poucos metros, me deu atenção prontamente com um 🫶coração de mãos!

Friends ask why, you didn’t know him that long. That always kinda bothers me. 
People come into your life, so loving, so caring, you know they are special, from heaven, like they are supposed to be there. It’s hard to explain. They just hit your heart. It just happens. He treated me like I’d known him forever. 

That great big big hug, sometimes I couldn’t breath, kiss, big smile, I love you and everything’s going to be ok, everytime you walked into my workplace, no matter where I was, what I was doing, from the first day I saw your face. 
How I could use that now…

I didn’t know who you were but, I was new to the area, lost, scared and His open arms. I thought, I’ll take it and I expected it every time after. Lol 
From that day forward we grew a special heartfelt friendship.  I still get tears in my eyes.

One of the first people  I met, when I moved here over 7 years ago. I didn’t  know who he really was till after he passed. He never said a word. Just that he played the drums.
It didn’t matter what he or I was going through. That big smile, that loving amazing friendship will forever be a part of my heart. Always turning my not so good days into a great day.

I think and listen to you often even when Lucinda and  I are together. We listen, talk and laugh at the fun times we had together. You are an inspiration, careing, loving, most incredible person I’ve ever met, not only to me but, to everyone you  you crossed paths with. That was just you. Real…

We met in 1993 and were friends the minute we met.  Remaining friends throughout our lives we shared our memories and personal issues with each other as if we were family.  

Not a day goes by that I don't miss taking to you or the way you always made me  laugh. I only hope you are now watching over me from a place free of pain and worldly issues.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Reed was a awesome guy and friend. I worked for his parents Sandy and Courtney at Barr-Mullin. I would occasionally get to see him there. I lost my dad and he was right there with me to help in any way he could and gave me a heartfelt hug.i really appreciated it. So again to Sandy and Courtney and Ashley sorry for your loss. I will truly miss my friend Reed.

I miss you so damn much... I know that we grew apart as we got older. but still talked and reminisced about wrecking the Ski-Doo in Maine running around in the woods of Maine. Andplaying hide and seek outside the cabind. You would always pick up some sticks and play drums on the trees and it would echo and  we couldn't find you... You won and Smokey and I would get so mad LOL love you cuz miss you badly

I and just a regular guy from Boston area , I fell in love with COC and reeds drumming the second I herd my first song , I got my first drum kit for Christmas when I was about 10 now 47 and I’ve developed my style around the way reed played , he was and still is the most underrated drummer the world has herd , I tried to see him play when I could , I will miss hearing what else he could have given us , I only wish I had gotten a chance to just talk to him say hello and tell him he is my number one drummer , rest easy reed you will be missed terribly, I am so sorry to your family and friends , thank you for everything you gave us

I am stunned and ashamed I didn’t know this until tonight and I’m shocked and sad.  I didn’t know Reed like most of you did. I was a legal secretary for the attorney who was helping him when he was just a child really and just getting started. I remember the first time I saw Reed; that long blond hair, his round ‘hippie’ glasses and his colorful van.  It was the early ‘80’s.  I actually typed his fans’ info into a database in my off time.  They had a rather large fan base in Canada for those of you who may not know. Anyway, he was very different to and from what I knew; He was wild, fun, carefree. a musician and very cute too I might add and he taught me a very valuable lesson as a very young girl who was born and raised in a very sheltered setting.  He taught me to never judge a book by its cover and there is always so much more richness and beauty to know and love beneath the surface even when it looks different than yourself.  Reed was beautiful to me. And. while that has been many years ago, learning of his passing took my breath away.  Thank you Reed for touching and teaching a very young and judgmental girl that beauty goes so much further than what meets the eye. I’m so sorry I didn’t get to know you better I pray you Rest In Peace. You have been and will always be with me in your own unique way that you never knew. 😢💔

Reed...thank you for picking me up and giving me rides to all those shows way back when. Thanks for including this young kid and introducing me to so much. Thanks for always extending a helping hand even when I didn't deserve it. Thank you for the music, the fun and the possibilities. RIP man...

I enclosed a screenshot of a text between Reed and I last Father's Day, because I don't have one picture of us together..I never took one, and I wish I had.  This text will always be enough for me. I miss you brother , I will meet you there one day , my life won’t be the same !! 

Sadly I never had the chance to meet reed in person but of those I know who have hold him in the highest regard. He was an absolute monster on the drums and his music has helped me through some very rough times. Fly on reed.

Reed was one of the first people I met when I moved to NC  4 years ago and started my new job. I seen him almost every day. How I will miss his friendly hugs, kisses, love you’s, smiles, chit chats and always asking how I was. For the longest time I had no idea who he really was. He was the most loving, caring, sweetest person, I adored very much. He made me smile and laugh and many days made my day!! He will be deeply missed! My thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and friends. Rest in heaven my dear sweet friend.♥️

Reed touched so many people.  He loved everyone and everyone loved Reed. He was so special. He made you feel like an old friend the minute you met him. 
I was a huge COC fan and our bands met and played together for the first time in 1991 in London. He was so warm and cool. I told him that when we were starting out we used to cover "Holier". He insisted that we play it that night and the guys came out to lend us a hand. 
I am grateful to have been his friend. Just thinking about him puts a smile on my face. 
I was honored when he asked me to be a part of TTK. It was so great to work with him on the track and he was always so supportive and encouraging.
I am sorry I never met Sandy. He talked about you all the time. Peace and love to his family, friends, fans and COC. I can't believe he is gone. 

To the Family of William Gerrard Reed Mullin, I'm so sorry- can't imagine the pain of losing a child, a brother.  Please know that you raised one of the most generous, kind, sweet, and unpretentious talents that ever lived PERIOD. He brought so many  around the world happiness and awe- we basked in his positive glow in each town he played year after year. I was lucky to know him personally since 1992 when he came to BC Canada and Seattle- and for many years after. We shared such awesome conversations about music and life- he was always such a great listener! You could see it in his face - girls guys we all wanted his time and attention and settled for Sharing it for as long as we could. I will always treasure the times with him. You may still have some of my gifts (COC troll, AIM Free Leonard Peltier shirt - whom he wanted to do a benefit for. :) Thank you for bringing such an amazing soul into our world. As I told him in December, Reed - you'll always be in my thoughts and heart. I will always feel blessed to have know you as well. My condolences to his Loving family and all of his friends and fans too. Say hello to heaven sweetie.

I've been a fan of COC for over 25 years, and had the chance to meet Reed back in 2013 when they toured Chile for the first time. He was extremely kind and close to all the fans, willing to let dozens of kids and young men like me to take pictures and chat a bit. This shows what a down-to-earth guy Reed was under any circumstance or place, as all people who knew him verify. Just wanted to add my little personal memory of him, which I remember very fondly, and hope his family and friends can find comfort in this moment of sorrow. Thank you Reed for your kindness and good spirit, we'll always remember you through your great music.

Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone. Reed was certainly loved and he will be forever on our minds and in our hearts ❣

I met Reed at Broughton.  I remember that one of the classes we had together was chemistry.  We had a blast!   Although I cannot remember much, if anything, regarding chemistry from that class, one memory I do have is of us cutting up, Reed with a big ole goofy smile on his face.  That is the just the way I will always remember him.

My sincere condolences to the family and Mike, Pepper and Woody. Reed was an inspiring guy with a drive like no other. His love for music is what propelled him to become one of the greatest drummers on the planet. I knew him in our High School days when he and Woody first started with the hardcore punk band No Lables, which wasn’t exactly my favorite style, but I became appreciative of their efforts and by the time they recorded “Blind” with COC, they had a sound which struck me like a hammer!!! The rest is history. Sleep well my old friend...

Sandy, Courtney and family,

Dean and I are beyond sorry to hear about Reed. He had a heart like no other and will be dearly missed. I have tried hard to organize my memories so that I don't sound like a rambling fool, but every time I do I start to cry, so forgive me if these thoughts sound random. 

From working together on creative projects with COC, Brown and even Barr Mullin, Reed used any chance, any success he had to lift up everyone around him and make sure we all had opportunities. I cannot say enough about how much his faith in us and our abilities meant to Dean and I when we were just starting out.

In the late 90's he talked us into going running with him at Lake Johnson most afternoons, and he and I ended up running the first Raleigh Race for the Cure together. I still run almost every day, and I like to think I have him to thank for that. Every time I run at the lake now, I think of him cheering Dean and I up the steep hills. 

Another thing that I think of when I think of Reed, is always being impressed (and a bit jealous) of how much you both loved him.  From the Grammy announcement and band mementos in Sandy's office, to the light in your eyes when you both would talk about Reed, even seeing you at every show, the mutual love between you all was always apparent. Now that I have my own children, I can really appreciate the love, and pride that you felt for him.

Reed messaged me not long ago that he was moving, and that he missed us. He sounded very happy, excited to get a fresh start. It was good to hear from him, and now, even though I am heartbroken, I am glad he reached out, that we had that chance to check in.

I'm not sure how to close this, other than to say that we are so sorry for your loss, and I hope that knowing how much Reed meant to us, and really everyone that knew him, can bring you some small comfort.

I met Reed in the early 90s, and was fortunate enough that because I used to travel a lot, I got to see COC a number of times in different places and occasionally hang out with him.  Then life happened and I lost touch with him about 20 years ago, the last time I saw him was at a club in Boston, maybe a year or two after the Metallica tour?  I still followed him & the band online and every now and then I'd think I should reach out and say what's up, and then I didn't because you always think there's more time.  I hope that wherever we go when we leave this plane of existence, he knows that besides having always admired  his musical talent & enjoyed his sense of humor, his intelligence, enthusiasm, and activism have been and continue to be a major inspiration for me to try to be a better human being and create positive change on a daily basis.  Love & miss you Reed.  You were one of the good ones.

I wanted to send my heartfelt condolences to Reed's family and friends and also to all the COC music fans. I first met Reed in New Orleans in the mid-80's. I was part of a group of teenagers who put on shows there and I think making those COC shows happen once or twice a year over several years may have been some of my favorite live music times. They led to close friendships and mighty good times. 

Shortly after high school I moved to Raleigh and Reed asked me to come work for COC to help with the merch and other music business things. I will always be grateful for his faith in my abilities and for his encouragement and also for what I learned from him along the way. It was kind of like a punk rock/rock-n-roll MBA journey. He also became a big brother of sorts and we fought sometimes when he got overprotective but I'm grateful that he cared. We worked non-stop on growing opportunities for the band but it never felt like work. I think the COC road highlight for me was touring with the Ramones and the everyday highlights were going to Krispy Kreme after midnight in the '65 mustang convertible with the top down hoping the hot donut sign was lit and going to see other bands around NC and DC. There were always a ton of people. The vibes were always good and Reed always had the biggest smile.

Reed's heart was as big as they come and I remember him being so incredibly politically astute and fearless in what he had to say about the state of world and those in it. His patience was more than most and he had me in stitches quite a bit, if not peeing in my pants. Even though we shared our differences I believe my life was probably changed for the better because of the time I was able to spend with him. I'm sorry we didn't stay in touch and I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodbye.

I was so blessed and privileged to make Reed's acquaintance in the early 1990's in Columbia, South Carolina.  He was so sweet and kind with an infectious smile that made everyone feel like everything was right in the world.  I am so very sad to hear of his passing.  My sincerest condolences to Reed's Family and Friends.  

I don’t know where to begin; Reed was a source of light for many of us. I recall the first time I heard “Blind” only to discover (wow) he was one of the most talented drummers of all time. I was floored; his style of drumming was heavily unforgettable! He instantly became my one and only favorite! I absorbed every album from there on out from the punk days thru every era after, as well as every time I saw COC in concert. I had the pleasure of meeting him on several occasions after he and the band were in town for a show and just a few years ago I reached out and we had real conversations. It was a school girl dream of mine (lol), as for most young fans at the time but as an adult I had a rare opportunity to learn more of him as a person on the inside. He like many of us had struggles but my impression was a sweet, kind, funny and humble guy who absolutely touched the hearts of those he met. Reed and his legacy will forever be cherished; you cannot forget a human being like him. He was genuinely a one in a million kind of soul whose creations and contributions to music not only influenced and impacted the Punk, Metal and Hardcore scene but to the hearts of so many! Our lives are forever changed. He left an impression everywhere he went. The out pours of love from everyone hold truth.  I thank him for shedding love and hope when we needed it most. His music and energy was infectious! Such an astounding drummer with an absolute unique style all his own; I think everyone wanted to be like Reed when they heard him play! His drums spoke volumes but also who he was as a person. Reed was a rare gem in this world. Tremendous amount of hearts broke when we learned the news. Our lights will shine dimmer but our hearts will forever bleed the gift of his love and friendship. They broke the mold when they made you Reed Mullin. You'll sorely be missed my friend! Reed was funny, he was cool. He was enthusiastic, he was genuine, he was open. He was a guy I was always happy to see. I'm going to miss him.

I met Reed at a show in 1994 at The Comet through my best friend Tracy Hobbs. He was so down to earth, real, intelligent, and funny! We crossed paths again 20 +years later when my kids' dad was in a jam.. gave him a place to stay while he worked on Reed's home. During that time, my boys got to know him and he was always so kind to them. Reed was benevolent, altruistic, intelligent, funny, a beautiful soul that exuded selflessness. He will be greatly missed and we need more people like him! Evan, Leith, and I send all of our love , peace, healing, and prayers to his family and friends.🌻


An extraordinary human.  Best friend, big brother, roommate who took me in on Greenleaf St .  I hate that life got in the way and we lost touch for so many years but thankful for a visit and a phone call and a few sporadic messages over the last year.  Hugs to y’all. I don’t really know where to start, I met Reed in the mid 90’s quite by accident. From the first second we spoke it was as if we were friends our entire lives. So many of my fondest memories include him or are as a result of him. Some of my dearest friends are in my life now because of Reed. There is no way to put into words how much I will miss my friend Reed, but in my sadness, I know that someway I will see him again. To Sandy, Courtney, Shannie, & Zoe I send my love.

I first met Reed in the 80s at shows in places like The Brewery and The Fallout Shelter.  He was always fun to hang out with.  I remember being at a Ramones show at the Mad Monk in Wilmington in something like 1986 or 87 maybe.  At the end of the show as the crowd was pushing through the door I heard somebody yelling my name. It was Reed standing on the counter next to the front door he pulled me up and we just stood there chatting looking at people and hanging out until the crowd died down. We lost touch for many years but reconnect when they toured with GWAR several years ago.  When I moved to the pacific NW I messaged him.  I posted pics of a recent Africa trip and got a pm from him saying “my zoodude friend....you rule”.  Last message I got from him late last year.  Gonna keep that one in my phone.  Miss you Mule! 

Still cant get over your passing. I've known Reed for some years now. He played in a local band called COC and no matter how big COC  had become he was still Reed from  our local band and that's how he acted too. Just a down to earth dude. He was beyond funny and always had a smile . I have a few memories of him and his dad. He will be missed by so many ...most because of his rockstar status .But missed more from all those that grew up in Raleigh and knew him. For almost 40yrs he was a part of the local music scene.  Thoughts are with his family... love and hugs brother....

I never got to meet you but for the last 15 or so years your drumming was the soundtrack to my life. I offer my heartfelt condolences to your family, friends and other fans right now. Rest easy and fly on Reed! 

I never had the chance to meet you Reed. Still through all the stories and memories that have been shared I am certain of the kind of amazing person you were. Your music always had a profound effect on me and watching you perform on several occasions was an honor and more than a pleasure. You will be missed amongst us but now there are 14 Angels. Reed was a musical hero of mine as a 16 year old kid growin’ up in Arkansas LONG before our paths ever crossed. 

Decades later as a proud member of the COC touring crew goin’ on 7 years now  I consider myself very lucky to have gotten to know not only the man behind the kit as a drum hero but also as a dear friend, mentor & true brother of the road. It was an absolute honor & pleasure working alongside such a kind, honest, brilliant & hilarious dude who had the most infectious good attitude of anyone I’ve ever met while on-tour day/in & day/out no matter the circumstances. 

He sent me these prolific words back in 2013  & I didn’t really know how to respond at the time but they ring truer now than ever before: “Good friends & family demonstrate the path of the wisest & most fortunate of the richest of men.”  

Thank you, Muleman for your enduring friendship, brotherhood, noble demonstrations & multitudes of wisdom. I  feel very fortunate & beyond rich to have been able to share a small slice of time on the planet cruisin’ around helping put smiles on people’s faces thru the power of ROCK N ROLL alongside you. 

Ya made the world a better place. Gone too soon but never forgotten. May you rest easy & rest in POWER my brother. I’ll see ya again at the great gig in the sky.

Reed, thank you. I heard your  music way after most..  You have a great following. 
The entire NC music scene has introduced me to so many great bands.. COC  is the top of the list.. RIP!  

I remember listening to COC in high school/ early college and just thinking how cool they sounded and cool it was that they were a local band. Snuck into a show once to watch and was literally knocked over. Really, some dude.  Long story. Never met Reed but have had the honor of working with his sister and calling her a friend. Frac and I have had some awesome giggles and I hope that she is able to smile and laugh at some of the stories here.   

On January 11, 2018 I was waiting in my car for the doors to open for the spur of the moment COC show in Grand Rapids Michigan. Reed knocked on my car window, he had a hoodie on so I didn't recognize him right away, and I rolled down my window a crack and he pointed to my COC shirt and said "That's my band!". He took off the hood and I knew instantly it was Reed. I jumped out of my car and he gave me a hug. We chatted for a couple of minutes and he took a few photos with me. He kept telling me to "take another one" and "take another one". He had a different look on his face for each photo. I thanked him and told him I would see him inside once they opened the doors. He was so sweet and kind. It totally made my night and a great memory. Reed will be missed greatly. Prayers to his friends, family, Mike, Woody and Pepper. Amy Jo

Reed, gone too soon!  I met you in a SMART meeting a few years back. I think you were on the way to San Fran for some recording.  I thought you were joking when you said you were the drummer for COC.  Then it hit and I was star-struck the whole meeting.  But you were so humble and kind and real.  I can vouch you were trying to get your demons in check.  I'm saddened that you are gone from us...  My love is with your family...  Wow... just devastated... Always your fan xoxoxo

One of my first music biz jobs was working in PR at Relativity.  Reed and the C.O.C. boys were one of the first bands I worked with and we had such a blast.  Reed was so sweet, funny and kind -- truly a great guy.  My sincerest condolences to Reed's family and friends...a big loss for all who knew him.

I had the privilege of meeting and working with Reed in the early 1990s in Raleigh.    He was such a kind and fun-loving person.   On days when he was not on tour and was working in the office, I always knew he would do or say something to put a smile on my face.  That's just the kind of person he was.  I am so saddened by this news.  May  the family find peace during this difficult time.

Reed... I can just see you on a giant pogo stick in the clouds with a big smile on your face.

I remember Reed walking into the room after they had been booked as a three piece for bloodstock. He was so happy, he told us all how stoked he was to play “The punk stuff” for a new audience. He always had a story about the scene in Raleigh, NC or about the Brewery. He kept a backbeat like no other.

Reed always gave me a fantastic interview the few times we talked. He was hysterical and, at the same time, extremely passionate about his music. A story is nothing without a great subject. Reed was all that and more. Your kindness extended to me will always be cherished. Rest In Peace.

It’s been made so clear in the last few days what a special person Reed was to hundreds of people. I’m so glad to know it wasn’t just me. I hadn’t seen him in decades, but I was so happy to connect with him again on Facebook. As others have said, he really had a way of making a person feel special. That is a gift so few people possess. His is a great loss. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and band mates. 

I can only hope that us fans rocked your world as much as you rocked ours.  Thank you! R.I.P.

I was just talking about the first time I met you back in January of 1982 to some friends, how much of an influence you had on Raleigh and myself.  That how you deserved more recognition for all you had done through music and bringing people together.  
Well, it seems now you are.  Sadly, I just wish you were here . I’ll never forget all you had for me.

I first met in the summer of 1985, at a backyard pool party in suburban Harrisburg, PA.  I found out then what a kind, warm-hearted and down-to-earth guy he was, and my many interactions with him over the subsequent years served to reinforce that impression.  I would chat with him endlessly on the phone about music.  My friends and I would take road trips from the DC area to Raleigh to hang out with him and the other CoC guys (we were always invited to stay at the group house, of course).  Reed helped my band (without us ever asking him to) by sending our demo tape to his friend, Bob Durkee, who had an independent record label in CA.  

He was not only a phenomenally talented musician, he was just a welcoming, generous, magnanimous person whose enthusiasm for music and the people who made it could not be contained.  His loss is one that will be felt throughout the music community, as well as by everyone who ever had the privilege of meeting him.

Your friendship elevated all of us. You made us feel part of something special. We will hold a piece of you with us, always.

Bringing COC over to tour the UK for the first time was a blast. I loved working with you in Europe. Then coming to Raleigh and us driving right across to LA  to the Concrete Metal Conference and stopping off for a couple of hours en route in Las Vegas. We ate only Taco Bell for 2 days. RIP buddy xxx

...the first time I met Reed Mullin was at Saratoga springs july 1997. Coc were touring with drain and machine head. once I got into the venue I came out of the bathroom and there was reed. I freaked out and went running up to him like a crazy fan lol. we talked for a bit and then I asked him why there was no pictures allowed that night. he said whatcha talking about a sweet girl like you can take all the pictures you want. I explained my camera was in the car. he said well let's go get it. so off to my car we go (he loved my car btw, it was covered in stickers, told me it was very punk rock! lol) then he said we have to get you a pass. so we go to the bus to get a photo pass...along the way we meet some ppl (no clue who but I think some of them were record industry ppl) and he says "this is my girlfriend interplanet janet. little ole me was freaking out and trying to be cool. so he goes on the bus and gets me a pass and let me in the back door of the venue. After the show reed invites us backstage and gave me my first drum head (on it he wrote "to interplanet janet") from that day on I referred to him as my boyfriend and he always said I was his girlfriend. We kept in touch from there on in. I am so glad to be able to call him a friend...he always knew how to cheer me up and no matter when he called me or I saw him I still freaked out inside like a crazy fan. Another great memory was when William Cinkaj went to raleigh and stayed at his house. He took us on the 50 cent tour and told us soooo many stories from over the years...took us to the jam room, let me hear some new COC tunes and even gave me a bottle of COC beer. My favourite memory of my life though was getting to be on stage with him not once but twice...it was a honour that he asked me and so much fun!! Reed was a guy for the fans...he would give ya the shirt off your back, he appreciated every fan and every friend he had in his life♡♡♡ Love ya Sandy and family! i will be down to see ya soon! 

I have so many memories of Reed the most memorable moments with him was when Stephanie was pregnant with my daughter 
Reed had asked if we knew what the baby was going to be Stephanie had told  Reed not yet....
  Reed Rubbed her Belly Paused for a second and looked and Stephanie as said it's going to be a girl......me and Stephanie both smiled and said ok well let you know and sure enough it was Girl when we found out  at the doctor I looked a Stephanie and said well Reed was right I don't think we laughed so hard that day .....ever since then Reed would always give me a shirt to give to Selina  this is one of the last shirts he gave me to give to Selina I was always hoping that Reed could finally get to me Selina  this year was going to be the year so sad that he didn't get to...

I can not believe Reed is gone, he truly was one of a kind, and so so KIND! I still remember the first time we meet, which was sometime in 1996. I was staying at the same hotel as Reed and he came down the elevator as I was stepping on. When the door opened, he looked at me in the eyes and said "Hey, you look like someone that should come out and hang out with us tonight". Since that day, we were "Brothers from other mothers" and inseparable as we toured together around the world for a few years. When anyone was looking for Reed, they would always say "just look for Niclas and you will find Reed". 

One of the funniest stories with Reed (and there are soo many), that also was a reflection of the trust we had for each other, was when we were on tour and the upcoming show was in Canada. Reed's tour manager at the time, Denny, calls up Metallica's tour manager and, in a not so happy voice, says "Hey, we are about to cross the border in to Canada and Reed can't get it. He does not have his  passport, Do you know where Niclas is, because Reed gave it to Niclas". Haha, yes, I did indeed have his passport as Reed had told me it was safer with me, he was worried about loosing it. Long story short, the band had to smuggle in Reed to Canada to do the show. 

Our bond was strong and far outside of the music and work. As anyone that has ever been around Reed knows, he had this unique glow around him and a heart made of gold.  "Just come and stay with me when we are off tour", he would say and I did for a couple of weeks. 

When I was going through some rough times a few years back, Reed would make sure to reach out to me and check in to see how I was doing. THAT was the kind of man he was, always thinking of others and being there for them. 

I am grateful that I was able to have some heartfelt conversations with Reed before he passed. I told him how much I Loved Him and how big of a difference he had on my life. 

I will miss you my Brother...



You, your friendship with me and everything  that you and your band mates and friends in Raleigh did made me relocate to Raleigh in the spring of 1986.  I won’t forget any of that. You will be missed. 

My deepest condolences to the Mullin family. The world is not as bright without his light. He is so loved.

This is Jason Browning, who played guitar with Reed in Righteous Fool.  Angela and I are heartbroken.  We loved Reed as do so many. You have been in our hearts since this started happening a few weeks ago. The deep love you always showed for your son was so beautiful and pure. I wish we could see you again so we could hug you and give our most sincere condolences in person. We were thinking of the times that we would meet you and Reed at the Mission Valley movie theater to watch movies. You two were so close. We hope so much that you can find peace with all of this. Your son was a hero to so many. He uplifted so many people and changed the world of music. He did it all with an unforgettable smile. He was such a sweet person, and from knowing you it's clear that the apple did not fall far from the tree.

I have been a professional drummer since I was 14 years old, I'm now 38 and will be 39 on Feb 12th. Reed's birthday as well. I know for a fact I wouldn't have found my passion for drums if it wasn't for hearing Reed for the first time when I was 11. I finally got to see him and CoC for the first of many times when I was 16 in '97 when they were touring off of the Wiseblood album opening for Metallica. I actually met Reed in the hallway of the Civic center in Roanoke,VA.  He saw my Deliverance shirt and immediately struck up a conversation with me as if he'd always known me. Fly On Reed. You will live through me and my drumming forever.

I interviewed Reed several times.  The photo here was a couple years ago in Philly.  He invited me onto the tour bus and we talked for about 30 min.  Telling me stories about Dave Grohl, John Paul Jones, and of course his favorite topic Corrosion of Conformity.  Miss him.  RIP Reed.

At times it’s hard to articulate emotions around death but I’ll never forget Reed and the impressions he left. I’m sending so much love to Sandy & the rest of his family. I have so many wonderful memories with Reed, just hanging as well as on tour and in the studio.   One thing that I remember is most of the time we spent laughing and smiling.  He was such a goof ball & I loved it. He was a good team player and totally just inspired me just the way he had help pave the DIY music scene with his band and his ethics around it.  He was friends with everyone and just to go getter and I just really related to that. 

I first met Reed when I was an assistant engineer at Studio 606 & I was helping work on the teenage time killer’s record… really ended up being one of my favorite records I ever helped on.

Reed recorded drums on my Brighter in Bloom EP and one amazing incredible memory that I have was from when we were recording drums on a song called ‘Don’t’ in San Francisco at Lucky and I was running back-and-forth from the control room into the live room between takes and we we’re just having so much fun. We just kept playing this song over and over again and he just put in all his energy into it and we just laughed so much cause we were both so happy- it was just so great.

 A funny memory … I have many! ahhh One time I kind of knocked my tooth out during the show lol and after, to make me feel better he put a piece of black tape on his teeth and it was just so funny and him & Mikel were just trying to make me laugh. We went through some crazy stuff honestly.

I have this really nice memory of us when we’re on tour in Oregon and we decided to take some time and go see some waterfalls and we just all enjoyed ourselves so much. 

 On tour we spent a lot of time just talking about music and just life. He was well read and smart. I’m celebrating & thinking of many great memories of him now as I write this

I wore out his albums and had to replace them all. I met him at a show and said I was a fan who made a website in the 90's and he talked to me like we grew up together. I am grateful for the time he had made for and spent with me while showing up in town or on the phone or by text, and I am sad I won't see or talk to him again. Reed has given his time to a lot of people whom he also connected to each other. I am sorry for the loss to his family, friends, and fans around the world.

I didnt know Reed very well, but what I did know of him left a permanent impression. 
He always had a cheer in him and a willingness to help others. 
Eventhough he was younger than me he left me with pleasant memories. 

Reed always had a twinkle in his eye, a smile on his face, and a funny to tell whenever we were together. Not only was he an incredibly talented musician, but he was an incredibly loyal friend for many decades, and I will miss him terribly.
The world has gotten a lot darker without your presence my friend, may your beautiful soul rest peacefully.

having met your brother in 1993 in Detroit with the remainder of the guys from COC, we remained in contact for over 25 years as good friends.  He always showcased his care for others as well as his humorous heart, always seeking to make us all laugh.  The hole left by his passing will be felt for eternity as his friends, family, and extended music family seek to keep his memory alive, wishing only that more people knew how truly incredible he was.  

I can only hope he finds peace now, up in the heavens with the likes of Vinnie, Dime, Bowie, Chris, forming one huge super group just waiting for us all to get there to see it.

I send my condolences to all who lost a friend or family member by this passing.  He was truly an amazing soul.

I first met Reed in 94 when I was hired by Denny to be his drum tech and band's ld. We bonded instantly and maintained a lifelong friendship. I am going to miss his pranks and dumb jokes and his innapropriate touching. Most of all I am going to miss his spirit. His heart was gargantuan and he had a way of putting you at ease. I love you like a brother and I will never forget you. See ya when I see ya.
