Born on November 25, 1941, in Winston-Salem, NC, Bill spent most of his life in Raleigh, where he built not only a successful business but a strong and loving family. A graduate of NC State University, Bill studied chemical engineering and, while still in school, discovered a passion for electroplating. In 1965, he founded Surtronics Inc., a finishing company that continues to operate to this day—a testament to his vision, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit.
Bill was a man of many talents and passions. He loved tennis, golf, race car driving, bridge, and cooking—often gathering friends and family around the table to enjoy his culinary creations. Another joy of his life was “popcorn duty” at North Haven Church, where he served his community with a smile during outreach events. Whether behind a golf club, the stove, or the popcorn machine, Bill brought joy and generosity to everything he did.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Victoria (“Vickie”); his daughter Debbey and her children, Alex and Ella; his son John and John’s daughter Celina; his son-in-law Jorge Barcenas and his sons Emanuel and Tomas; his sister Susan and her husband Giovanni Cossu of West Melbourne, Florida; and his cousin and “brother” Eddie Allen and wife June.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Denise, his mother Louise Allen, and his father William Henry Wade, Sr.
We’ll be honoring his life this Thursday, May 8th, at North Haven Church:

One of Bill’s favorite songs was “Jesus Loves Me,” a simple yet powerful reminder of the faith and love he carried with him always
