Barbara Ann Ritchie Koontz

Barbara was born in Salem, Ohio on April 29, 1932 to parents Elbert Arthel and Dora Louise (Irey) Ritchie. Barbara was a longtime member of the Black Horse Baptist Church, where she was a leader of the ladies group. She was a member of TOPS, a social weight loss club, and also enjoyed bowling and camping.

Barbara worked as a waitress, as a seamstress with J.C. Penny, and as an Avon salesperson. Most of all, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother.

Barbara is survived by her children: Patricia (Herbert) Bishop, Sherrie (Randy) Near, Kathie (Frank) Evans Messerle, Jeff Ritchie, Daniel Robinson, Tracy (Ken Stiles) Edwards, Charles Koontz, Jr., and Susan Molnar, as well as her sister Jean Ritchie Pate, and her brother Gary Ritchie. Her memory will also be cherished by 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Koontz on May 8, 2014, as well as her parents, her son William Fry, and her sisters Mary Kimble, Ethel Perkins, and Carol Grimm.

Friends will be received on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, with funeral services following at 1:00 PM with Pastor Dan Page officiating. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman on Monday at 11:15 AM.
