Catherine "Katy" Brown Webb

Katy was born December 5, 1924, in Uhrichsville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Park) Brown. She received her Registered Nursing degree from Ohio Valley General Hospital in 1945 and moved to Cleveland to accept a position at McDonald House, the obstetrical unit of University Hospital. Here she met her future husband Edward, then a medical student at Western Reserve School of Medicine. They were married in 1951 and moved to Ravenna in 1953.

After moving to Ravenna, she was active in the Red Cross Blood Donation Program, the Portage County Board of Elections, and many organizations involving her children. A longtime member of the Twin Lakes Country Club, Katy enjoyed her association with its Nine-Holers group. She happily volunteered at Robinson Memorial Hospital for many years and was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ravenna.

Her daughter, Susan Kay Webb, was killed in a horseback riding accident in 1972. The mother-daughter team traveled extensively both locally and to adjacent states for her to participate in hunter/jumper competitions.

She is survived by her son David B. (Amy) Webb and their children Julia, Andrew, and Christopher all of Lake Forest, Illinois, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Katy was preceded in death by her husband Edward Alton Webb, M.D. on September 21, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, John and Leon Brown.

Friends will be received Monday, May 2, 2011, from 12:00 PM until the 2:00 PM funeral service officiated by Reverend Pamela Canzater Chaney at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
