

Charles “Chuck” Lewis Tawney, aged 87, of Ravenna, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, surrounded by his entire family. Born on September 10, 1937, Chuck was a man of ambition, humor, and profound loyalty, traits that endeared him to many throughout his life. Chuck’s proudest accomplishments was that of his 65-year marriage and his family. Affectionately known as Pap, Chuck had an incredible bond with his granddaughters Hannah and Megan. Chuck will be sadly missed by his entire family.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Karol Tawney; daughters Terri (Jim) Wilson of Ravenna, Ohio, and Cherie Altsman of Cranberry Twp, PA; and granddaughters Hannah and Megan Altsman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Geneva (Smith) Tawney and Cecil Tawney, and his sisters, Eleanor Shedan and Sandra Denton.
Chuck was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ravenna. His interests were diverse, including traveling, gardening, camping, and woodworking. A sports enthusiast, he relished watching Cleveland sports teams and Ohio State football. Retirement allowed Chuck and Karol to enjoy winters at their Florida home, embracing the warmer climate each year. They especially looked forward to annual visits by their children and grandchildren.
Chuck graduated from high school in Spencer, WV, before advancing his education at Bohecker’s Business School in Ravenna. His professional life was marked by a successful 30-year career as a sales representative of manufactured homes and later as the owner of Maple Del Manor Mobile Home Park in Ravenna. Chuck took great pride in doing everything possible to “get ‘em into a home” and help them achieve home ownership.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Woods Kortright Borkoski Funeral Home in Ravenna, Ohio, with a service to follow at noon. A private burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna, Ohio.
Contributions may be made to the Portage County APL, honoring Chuck’s love of animals.
