Dale Leon Cottrill, the eldest son of Dale Ready Cottrill and Mary D “Westfall” Cottrill Barnes passed away peacefully in his home with his sister Linda not leaving his side. He was born November 14, 1947 in Red Bank, New Jersey.
He's preceded in death by his first wife, second wife and mother of his daughters, Laura C Davis Cottrill Cottrill Harris Harris. The two meeting while attending Rootstown High School. After which Dale enlisted in the army, leaving a daughter in Korea. After coming home, he worked at the Ravenna Water Department, Central Freight and Horizon. Finding that having his own truck working for himself, is what he wanted to do.
He leaves behind his devoted sister, Linda Welty (late husband Bill) of Ohio, Carol (Pete) Steele of FL and Curtis (Joyce) Cottrill of PA. All which were able to be with him in his passing days. Many nephews and nieces, with Bubby holding a special place in his heart.
Sharing love of many things one being fishing, which on April 1st you usually could find Dale at one of his favorite spots, Lake Hodgson, and that's no joke. With his home away from home being the Cimmaron Lounge, where he had many friends, most like family. Brent the Owner truly looked at Dale as his Uncle, he was used to picking him up even in his birthday suit. Brent was only a phone call away to help the family pick him up at any time needed. His future ex-wife, Marjorie whom he often cooked with in the kitchen. His 2 special friends Debbie & Cathy always bringing meals and constantly checking on him. He truly leaves a bar full of family and friends with the Heiney family being one of his closest. Many years of his life, Dale shared them with his common law wife Shirley “Cottrill” Shepherd of Indiana being a wonderful stepmother to Dale’s daughters. Some are surprised by the fact that Kimberlee & Shalon Cottrill of Kent are his daughters that were able to spend some of his last days together with him.
Thankful and blessed there will be a celebration of love for him. More details to come & it will be at the Cimmaron Lounge! Have a drink for Dale with someone you love, the family only asks that you keep your birthday suits to yourself.
