

Doris is retired from Webb Medical Associates and is a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for over 50 years. She was involved in many charitable and social organizations throughout her life as well as volunteering in various areas.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Fred “Bud” Banks, daughters: Lynn Sommers Akers of Orlando, Lou Ann Sommers Racher and son-in-law Paul Racher of Columbus, and daughter-in-law Mindy Sommers McDermott of Kansas City; grandchildren: Kelly and Christopher Akers of Orlando, Amanda and Emma Racher of Columbus and Stephanie Sommers of Kansas City. She is also survived by her stepchildren Susan Banks Ward and husband Dale, Sheree Banks Leonhardt and husband Steve, stepgrandchildren, Kelley and Jaclyn Leonhardt and Rick McGonagle and Shannon McGonagle Rosier, and sisters: Jeannette Stibbe and her husband Ed of Solon, Ohio, and Irene Dawes of Munroe Falls, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold J. Sommers and son Jay Alan Sommers.
She will be remembered by her family as a witty, intelligent and strong-willed woman who was devoted to her children and grandchildren. As a woman who fidgeted quite a bit with her hair, she can rest in peace knowing that “There are no bad hair days in heaven.”
Cremation has occurred and a graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 12, 2010 with Pastor Scott Purdum and Reverend Phillip Banks officiating.
