Elizabeth J. Crothers, 67, with her loving family by her side, passed away at her residence in Rootstown after a long battle with lung cancer on Thursday, October 10, 2019. Elizabeth donated her body to Northeast Ohio Medical College.
Elizabeth was born on November 10, 1951 in Youngstown, Ohio to parents John P. and Frances M. (Barber) Lyden. She graduated from Ursuline High School in Youngstown with the class of 1969 then went on to graduate from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in 1972. After graduation she started her nursing career at St. Elizabeth Hospital where she retired after enjoying 40 years of service. Elizabeth enjoyed life and loved spending time with family and friends. In her spare time she loved taking walks, going to Mill Creek Park Rose Garden, watching classic movies and traveling. She also enjoyed her association with St. Peter of the Fields Church in Rootstown.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 28 years, Alton Crothers and her children: Brian Jones and Amy Crothers. Also surviving are her siblings: Patricia Lyden and Tim (Kathleen) Lyden. Left also to cherish her memory are sisters-in-law: Rachel Pierce, Aura Lea (Joe) Artle and brothers-in-law Wesley Crothers and Randy Crothers. She also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, family, friends and co-workers.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother John M. Lyden.
Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at St. Peter of the Fields Church, 3487 Old Forge Rd, Rootstown, Ohio from 10:00am until the Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Rev. David Misbrener at 11:00am.
