She was born October 14, 1916, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to parents Ernst and Wilhelmina (Gerstner) Lache. Ella was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
She took pride in maintaining her home and garden. Ella was a talented seamstress. She liked to travel and wintered in Florida for many years. Ella enjoyed cooking and loved to entertain her guests. She was also a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church in Kent, read her Bible daily, and would offer prayer for her family and friends.
Ella is survived by her daughters: Sylvia (George) Pouliot, Jeanette (Sam) Abell, and Ruth LaFollette, as well as her brother Eric Lache, all of her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Angelo Spelman, her sons-in-law Jim LaFollette and Dick Fischer, her great-grandson Nikolas, and her siblings: Ernest Lache, Roy Lache, Karl Lache, Paul Lache, Ralph Lache, Sylvia Dennison, Irma Planic, and Lois Bruce.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM with funeral services officiated by Pastor Bruce Chouinard at 11:00 AM at the Grace Baptist Church, 5915 Rhodes Rd, Kent, Ohio 44240. Interment will take place at 2:00 PM at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown.
