Elsie R. Schaber Schaefer

Elsie Schaefer (Schaber), age 81, passed on to her eternal home with Jesus on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at home with family under Hospice Care as she ended her battle with Parkinson’s disease. Elsie was born May 30, 1929 in Champaign, Illinois and at age four moved to Akron, Ohio. Elsie graduated from Sacred Heart of Mary and worked as a cashier at Acme. On May 28, 1949 she married Paul Schaefer and moved to Randolph, Ohio, where she was a mother, grandmother and friend. Helping with the farm and raising nine children was her passion. Her family and friends admired her generous heart, great sense of humor and endless drive to take care of all. She was a devoted Catholic belonging to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Elsie enjoyed bowling, traveling, farming, gardening and the highlight of her life was her grandchildren.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul Schaefer of 61 loving years. 9 Children; Paula (Greg) Chrobak, WV; Pat (Gary) Jindra, Uniontown; Karen (Gary) Adelman, Randolph; Don (Linda) Schaefer, NJ; Ruth (Dave) Hicks, Medina; Ken (Nancy) Schaefer, Valley City; Steve (Jeanne) Schaefer, NJ; Janet Stapin, Rootstown; Jim (Tracy) Schaefer, Green; 15 Grandchildren; 5 Step Grandchildren; 3 Step Great Grandchildren; brother Bob (Genny) Schaber, Akron, and sister-in-laws Anna Schaber, Ruth Schaber, and brother-in-law David Coffman, Akron.

Friends may be received Monday, July 19, 2010 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main Street, Ravenna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Robert Pfeiffer at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road, Randolph. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
