

On Saturday, March 1, 2025, God looked down from Heaven’s portal and said “Gloria, come with me to paradise.” She spread her wings and departed for the land that has no pain and no sorrow. Rejoice! She is home.
Gloria Ann Hillyer age 91 of Ravenna, passed away at her home. She was born August 26, 1933, in Akron, Ohio, to parents Dominick and Ida (Capitosta) Bitzel. She grew up in Waynesburg, Ohio, and was affectionately known as “Toots” to her family and friends.
Gloria never stopped. She had so much energy taking care of her family and running Hillyer’s Cornucopia, a grocery store in Atwater. She enjoyed dancing and singing, and was active in her kid’s interests as a Brownie Scout Leader and assisting with Atwater School plays and events. Toots even had her motorcycle license in her younger years!
Gloria is survived by her children: Debra Sanders, Patricia Berry Allen, Janet (Jon) Barber, Ernie Berry, and Billie (Jim) Hindmarsh, and her sister Shirley (Jim) Udeck. Her memory will also be cherished by her 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Pete and Dominick Bitzel, and her sister Donna Myers.
Friends and family will be received Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM with funeral services officiated by Pastor David Ballert at 12:00 PM at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. A time of fellowship will follow.
