Jerry was a proud Vietnam Veteran who actively served his country during the war. He carried deep respect and honor for his Army brothers, including those who never made it home. His service was not just a chapter of his life—it was a lifelong source of pride, gratitude, and remembrance.
In his younger years, Jerry had a passion for race cars and anything with a motor. He worked for Sunoco early in his career and continued part-time for years simply because he loved working on cars. That love of craftsmanship and hands-on work followed him throughout his life.
Jerry was a man of integrity, hard work, and unwavering devotion to his beloved wife Jane of 33 years. He was a loving father to two sons and a devoted stepfather to four daughters. He was always willing to step in and help anyone in need yet firmly believed in personal responsibility and the importance of helping oneself. Jerry led by example, showing his daughters through his actions that they are worthy of a marriage rooted in love, respect, and true partnership—where a husband stands beside his wife as an equal, not above her.
A proud grandfather to nineteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, Jerry treasured time spent teaching them the value of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance. Whether it was fixing a car, building a house, doing electrical work, cutting down trees, landscaping, or painting, there seemed to be nothing Jerry couldn’t do. He was a highly respected supervisor and mentor at Parker Hannifin, where he dedicated over three decades before retiring.
Retirement never slowed Jerry down. He was always working with his hands. He built a self-made custom woodworking business, crafting beautiful birdhouses, lighthouses, and well-covers. When he wasn’t in his woodshop, Jerry could often be found proudly showing his beloved 1971 Yenko Nova at local car shows, where it earned multiple “Best in Show” awards. His passion, precision, and pride were evident in everything he touched.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Jane (Wamer) Scott, whom he married on July 24, 1993; his sons Tim (Debbie) Scott and Gary (Margaret) Scott; his daughters Tina (Danny) Herr, Tracy (Rob) Ripley, Liza (Tim) Sears, and Rachel (Adam) Knoch; and his siblings Susie DeWeese, Don (Tami) Scott, Betty (Moose) Squires, and Richard Scott. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and close friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Marie (Bauer) Scott and his brothers, Gerald Scott and Eugene W. Scott.
