John Clark

He was born on December 12, 1927 in Ravenna, Ohio to parents John Byers and Julia Hattie (Eckert) Clark. John was a hard worker, where he was employed at Ametek Lamb Electric in Kent, retiring after 62 years of service. He was recognized with John Clark Day on July 18, 2007 in the City of Kent for all of his hard work. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea and Japan during the Korean War and received the Army of Occupation Medal and the Bronze Star Korean Service Medal. An avid bowler, “Jellybean” liked to frequent the lanes in his younger years, where he met Pauline (Boles) Clark, his wife of 55 years. He was a dedicated father and family man, where they raised 7 children together. He was a loving Grandfather, Papa and PopPops to many. In his final years, he loved playing bingo and was known as “Bingo John” by the staff and residents at Altercare.

John is preceded in death by Pauline, his brothers Kenneth (Vera) Clark, Harold Clark, his sisters Helen Clark, Ruth (Curtis) Andrews, Iona (Donald) Brickles, and Norma Brown; four sons, Larry Clark, Terry Clark, Ronald Stephens, Keith Stephens; and one daughter, Marsha Kay Menteer.

He is survived by his children, Rex Stephens of New Philadelphia; Robert Stephens of Ravenna; Yvonne Poling of Mantua; Tammy (David) Adkins of Ravenna; son-in-law Gary Menteer of Stow; and daughter-in-law, Beverly Stephens of Georgia; and sister-in-laws Alma Boles of Charlestown and Edith Boles of Randolph. His memory will be cherished by 26 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received on Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, from 11am until the Funeral Service, officiated by Chaplain William Wisniewski at 12pm. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. It is required that everyone attending visitation and service wear a mask and practice social distancing. The family certainly understands if you do not feel comfortable with attending due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
