She was born October 29, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio, to parents Adolph and Ethel (Kamps) Szitar. Mary Ann graduated from Akron General Nursing School and went on to a 40 year career as a Pediatric Nurse with Akron Children’s Hospital.
Her caring and kindness as a nurse carried over in other aspects of Mary Ann’s life. She was a longtime member of the Ravenna First United Methodist Church, where she would visit the shut-ins. She also sang in the church choir and went on several mission trips.
Mary Ann also loved the outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, and then canning the vegetables. She was active in her children’s 4-H group and raised horses. She also enjoyed swimming and fishing. In her later years, she would look forward to trips with her husband to get ice cream.
On March 15, 1979, she married her beloved Dick Boylen. She is also survived by her children: Christopher (Alhexia) Boylen, Nicole (Andrew) Stone, and Rachael (Matthew) Heller, she was also blessed with four grandchildren: Elena Boylen, Klara and Gianna Stone, and Victoria Heller, and is also survived by her brother Richard Szitar.
