Mary M Maske, age 88, of Aurora, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the Kensington Care Center after a period of declining health. Mary was born July 16, 1935 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to the late Myron and Alice (Coleman) Thomas.
Mary had a larger than life personality with enough love for everyone she encountered. She was a teacher, social worker and advocate for people in need her entire life. She worked at the Community Action Council and the Area Agency on Aging among others. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Kent, was an avid reader with a passion for learning and enjoyed a love of music. She also had a tremendous love of nature. Many days she could be found having lunch at a park, enjoying the trees and wildlife. In her younger years she was active with the civil rights movement.
Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Carey Maske, her brother and sister-in-law, William and Betsy Thomas; her nephews, Justin (Karen) Thomas and Michael (Shannon) Thomas and her niece Lauren (Roger) Basu.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David W. Maske.
A celebration of life will be celebrated at 12PM on April 5th at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 228 Gougler Ave. in Kent.
