Paul was born June 28, 1929 in Ravenna to George and Barbara (Kuhar) Gasper, where he grew up on the family farm. After graduating from Ravenna Township High School in 1947, he immediately enlisted in the Army, and then served in the Air Force.
Paul married JoAnn Rusinko in 1960 and they raised their family in the Ravenna area. His years reading meters gave him a close connection to the many neighborhoods of Portage County, and he retired from Ohio Edison in 1991. Outgoing with a keen sense of humor, few people in Ravenna were strangers to Paul. He enjoyed socializing with friends and his extended family, competing in bowling leagues, and playing golf, bocce and cards. He was a member of the Ravenna VFW and Knights of Columbus and spent many years volunteering as an usher and helping at events. Years before Paul moved to Vista Veranda, he regularly visited his sister Cecelia, and other residents there.
Paul will be greatly missed by his daughter Sharon Gasper and granddaughter Luka Bland of South Pasadena, California, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Alan E. Gasper, his wife JoAnn (Rusinko) Gasper, his parents, siblings Mary, Helen, Cecelia, Anne, Margaret, George Jr. and Agnes Gasper, Barbara Kirkland (John), Edward Gasper (Mary Ann), and Christine Trivelli (Henry).
The family would like to express gratitude to Paul’s devoted nephew Peter Trivelli and niece Theresa Trivelli, the staff at Vista Veranda, and the team from Affinity Hospice for their attentiveness and special care.
At Paul’s wish, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
