Southington – Philip “Jim” Marks, age 82, peacefully passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Hospital with his daughters by his side.
He was born April 16, 1937, in Warren, Ohio, the son of Rosemary (Nichols) Marks and Lowell Marks. Jim graduated in 1955 from Chalker High School, where he enjoyed baseball, basketball, and wood shop.
Jim proudly served his country as a member of the US Army and retired from Copperweld Steel in 1988. He was an avid golfer and loved to bowl, and go fishing with his buddies in Canada.
He is survived by his sister Phyllis Marks Martin, his first wife and mother of his children, Harriet (Karr) Marks, his daughters Dianne (Carmen) Horvath and Melissa (Matthew) Hathaway, his nephews Michael A. Martin and Edward D. Martin, his grandchildren Amber, Logan, Dakota, Ashley, and Katie, as well as his great-granddaughters Avery and Lily.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Rosemary Marks and Lowell Marks, his grandfather Frank Nichols, as well as his second and third wives Erika Marks and Gertrude “Sue” Marks.
Family and friends will be received to celebrate Jim’s life on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Cortland Trinity Baptist Church, 2576 McCleary-Jacoby Rd, Cortland, Ohio, with the memorial service officiated by Pastor Dan Barker at 6:00 PM.
