Tom was born in the small town of Lyons in upstate New York. After graduating from Lyons Jr/Sr High School, he headed west to Rapid City, South Dakota to attend the National College of Business. It was there that a young farm girl named Patricia Reinbold caught his eye. They were married August 29th, 1970, in Timber Lake, SD then headed back east to New York.
Tom worked several jobs while he and Pat grew their family. He eventually landed an accounting job at Garlock Inc. in Palmyra, NY in 1973. He worked his way through the organization ultimately finding his niche in the Sales Department. Tom was born with the gift of gab. He could strike up personal and professional conversations with anyone and, within an hour, he had a new friend. By the time he retired in 2016, Tom was leading the charge in International Sales, and he traveled extensively through South America, Europe and Asia.
Tom spent countless hours serving his family and his community through his involvement with The Boy Scouts, in local government as a Lyons Village Trustee and as President of the Lyons PTA. He was a dad that always showed up for his kids. He spent countless hours supporting them in all matters of extracurricular activities from sporting events to band concerts. He and Pat shared a passion for lighthouses. This passion inspired Tom to write a fictional novel about a lighthouse with a sad and dark past called, “The Light at Spirit Point.”
Tom was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Reinbold) Fletcher, his parents Lawrence and Thelma Fletcher and his sister Patricia (Fletcher) Negus.
He is survived by his four children Jennifer (Shaun) Abney, Aaron (Sarah) Fletcher, Melissa Cooper and Holly Fletcher and his grandchildren Jordan, Allison, Hannah, Emily, Charlie and Sadie.
