Sr Elizabeth Waters

Sister Elizabeth Waters (Sister Patricia Marie), a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur, died on November 27, 2012, at the age of 97 in the 79th year of her religious life. She was born on August 2, 1915, in York, PA. Sister Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents Francis Michael Waters, of Philadelphia, PA and Rose Marie Waters (Murray). Her passing is mourned by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, by her sister, Mary Toennesen, nieces, Elaine Toennesen and Beth Waters, and many friends.

Sister Elizabeth taught in elementary and high schools in Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio, and later at the University of Dayton. The schools include St. Paul School and Cardinal Pacelli in Cincinnati, Country Day School, Holy Trinity School and Julienne High School in Dayton, and Hartley High School in Columbus.

Elizabeth was director of the Juniorate program of the Sisters of Notre Dame, and later was director of The Notre Dame Associates. After her retirement to Mt. Notre Dame, she coordinated the St. Julie Ministry of Prayer.

Visitation will take place on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 1:30 – 2:45 at Mount Notre Dame Health Center, 699 E. Columbia Avenue, Cincinnati (513-821-7448), followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 3:00 and interment after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Retirement Fund of the Sisters of Notre Dame, 701 E. Columbia Avenue, Cincinnati OH 45215.
