A resident of Hazelwood/Blue Ash for about 40+ years. Several years ago, she moved to Wyoming. For most of her life she was a scrapper - just like her dad. She worked many of the surrounding communities(Montgomery, Blue Ash, Sharonville, Evandale, Madeira, Kenwood, Deer Park, Dillonville, and more) collecting paper, cardboard and metals to be recycled. She was doing this long before it was fashionable and before Sanford and Son ever premiered on TV. It was estimated that she and her husband kept more than a million and a half tons of rubbish out of the land fill. They would be honored by Senators Glenn and Chabot, The Ohio House and many communities for their efforts. Weekends were spent having Rummage Sales, going to Flea Markets and Auctions with the things she collected on her route - clothing, household goods, appliances, building supplies, tools and so much more.
She worked for Sycamore Senior Center until an injury retired her. She assisted the Blue Ash Parks programs in Hazelwood during the summer months to keep kids occupied.
Many square dancers and contra dancers know my mom from when she attended dances with me at clubs, weekends and conventions. She would accompany me when I would do Dance Parties for various groups in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. She even attended a few Steampunk & Lolita events.
These last two weeks she spent in Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was transferred to her sons' house in Sharonville under hospice care. She passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, February 9, 2017
She was raised in Russellville/Georgetown, Ohio. She was one of eight children born to BC Redd and Rosalien (Taylor) Redd. She married (the late)Tommie E. Jackson of Woodlawn, Ohio. They had eight children - Caryl, Rondo/Ronnie(Lorraine), Tommie/Ricky, Rodney, Marianne, Tommie/Jeannie(Frank), Taffy and (the late) Cardinal/Babs(Melvin Hilton). She leaves many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her sisters and brothers - Wanda/Curtis Reese, Mary Childs, William Redd and James Redd.
