

A. Madge Bender Alesin was born May 10, 1925, in Abergavenny, Wales, to A. Theodore and A. Hannah (Haines) White. Her mother died in childbirth and Madge grew up in Plymouth, England, with her father, brother, Glynn, and step-mother, Maude (Morris).
She was the widow of Charles E. Bender and Ralph Alesin. Madge, an English nurse, and Charles, an American soldier, met and married in England during World War II. They lived and raised their family in Berks County and celebrated fifty-five years of marriage before Charles died in 1999.
Madge and Charles are survived by their seven children, each residing in Berks County: B. Ann, widow of Harold L. Fisher; Pamela D., wife of Max L. Schauer; D. Suzanne, wife of Kevin P. Kershner; Gillian A., wife of Joseph Pelchar; Jacqueline A., wife of Gerald C. Williams; Eric C., partner of Gabriele E. Roman; Geoffrey S., husband of Mary E. Bender; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Madge is also survived by her brother, Glynn White, husband of June, of Harrogate, Yorkshire, England, and by her dear friend, Frank Lesinski, of Berks County.
Madge was sadly predeceased by: Bradley S. Bender, grandson, Valerie A. Fisher, granddaughter, and Henry P. Boyer, great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 15, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola, 2810 St. Albans Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Inurnment to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A gathering will be at the church 10-1030 a.m.
