

Alberta "Bert" S. (Gordon) Carter, 95, of Sinking Spring, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in Manor Care- Sinking Spring. She was the loving wife of the late James E. Carter, who sadly passed away on the same day in 2002.
Born in Reading on December 8, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Arthur, Sr. and Catherine Alice (Nelson) Carter. She was employed for over 25 years as a LPN at Wernersville State Hospital.
Bert was a lifelong member of Washington Presbyterian Church in Reading where she held various positions. She was an Elder of the church, past President of the Choir, head of Sunday School and former member of the Trustee Board. Bert was also a past Treasurer of AFSME Union #13. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed volunteering at Berks Heim.
Left behind to cherish her memory is a daughter, Claudette C. Carter of Sinking Spring; three nephews, John C. Haynes, Gordon L. Templin and James E. Templin; two nieces, April J. Coleman and Penny E. Templin and a host of grand and great nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by two brothers, Arthur Gordon, Jr. and Wellington Gordon and a sister, Harriet J. Templin.
A Going Home Celebration for Bert will be Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 12pm in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 to 12pm. Bert will be laid to rest beside James in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood.
