Alyce Sarah Stern

Alyce Sarah Stern, 87, formerly of Reading, went home with the Lord on September 8, 2016, in Little Company of Mary Hospital, Chicago, IL. She was predeceased by her husband, James V. Stern, on July 1, 1992.

Born in Chicago, IL., on April 20, 1929, she was a daughter of the late John and Fannie (Coleman) Coleman.

Alyce was of Catholic faith. She graduated from Reading Hospital as licensed practical nurse working at Berks Heim. She volunteered as "Grandmother" at Reading School District.

Alyce leaves to cherish her children: Juanita M. Robins, of Reading; Jaime L. Bourne, wife of James Bourne Jr., of Chicago, IL.; Rev. Gary S. Stern and his wife, Rev. Patricia Stern, of Chicago, IL,; Andrea C. Flowers, widow of Dwight Flowers, of Chicago, IL.; Darren J. Stern and his wife, Katherine Stern, of Chicago, IL.; a brother, Alvin Coleman, of Reading; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Home Going Services will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Bethel A.M.E., 330 W. Windsor St., Reading. Burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. A viewing will be Tuesday 9-11 a.m. in the church.
