During race season, he enjoyed spending his evenings watching sprint cars and camping at local dirt tracks. Gery loved hanging at the track with his race family and eating good food. He enjoyed playing golf and watching football.
Surviving are his 3 children; Brian and his wife Natalie Barna, Gary L. Wentzel and Deanna Clark, brother John W. "Butch" and his wife Carol Wentzel, and 9 grandchildren: Zoé, Zeven, Taylor, Gabrielle, Marley, Peyton, Mason, Genesis, and Dalainah.
He was predeceased by his brother, Johnson "Jack" Wentzel.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
