It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Giampiero “Gian” Peta, on March 1, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on January 14, 1963, in Andali, Catanzaro, Italy, he was the cherished son of Elena (Grande) Peta and the late Francesco Peta.
As the youngest of four siblings, Gian had a heart full of love and a spirit that touched everyone who knew him. He was predeceased by his dear brother, Aristide Peta, and is survived by his loving siblings: Donna A., wife of Frank J. Bommentre, of Marco Island, FL, and Maurizio Peta, of Wyomissing, PA. He was a beloved uncle to his nephew, Frank J. Bommentre Jr., husband of Summer Bommentre, of Wesley Chapel, FL, and his niece, Alyssa M. Bommentre, of Naples, FL. He also leaves behind many dear family members in Reading, PA, and Italy, all of whom held him in the highest regard.
Gian shared an especially deep bond with his mother, Elena, who was very special to him. He often showered her with thoughtful gifts and treats, always bringing her little goodies to enjoy. His affection for her was evident in everything he did, and he took great joy in making her smile.
Known for always having a smile on his face, Gian had a generous and selfless nature. He was always ready to offer help to anyone in need, and no matter the circumstance, he would readily put his own plans aside to support those he cared about. His kindness, empathy, and compassion were evident in every aspect of his life, and he was a true friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A man of many talents, Gian had a deep passion for art and photography, which he used to capture the world’s beauty in a way that resonated deeply with others. Known throughout the Reading community for his sports photography, he became a fixture at local events, especially as the dedicated photographer for Reading High’s basketball team and many other local sports teams. His photographs will remain a testament to his love for his community and his ability to commemorate the moments that matter most.
A member of the South Reading English Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Gian lived a life full of empathy, kindness, and devotion to others. His loving nature and unwavering generosity touched countless lives, and his absence creates a void that will be profoundly felt by all. He will continue to be cherished in our memories, and his legacy of love and selflessness will remain as an inspiration to all who knew him.
In honor of his life and legacy, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at 1101 West Wyomissing Blvd., West Lawn, PA 19609. We invite all those whose lives were touched by Gian to join us in celebrating his memory.
May his love and kindness continue to be cherished by all.
