Helen Irene (Delp) Bond, 84, slipped into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at her home in Leesport, PA. Born in Reading, PA on November 09,1939, she was the oldest child to the late John Irwin Delp and Irene Ruth (Schweitzer) Delp Clay and the stepdaughter to the late Robert Clay. In addition to her parents and stepfather, Helen was greeted in heaven by her son Andrew L. Bond, her brother Nelson Delp and her sister Joyce Ann Fegley.
Helen was a graduate of Reading High School, class of 1957. She then embarked on a dedicated career as an office clerk, eventually rising to the role of material planner in the purchasing department at Lucent/Agere/AT&T, where she worked for 40 years before her well-deserved retirement in 2000.
Helen’s life was deeply rooted in her faith, and Victory Baptist Church, where she had been a devoted member since its inception in 1976, became her second home.
Helen's love for cooking, baking, floral arranging and entertaining transformed her home into a warm and welcoming gathering place. But nothing brought her greater joy than her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. With a keen sense of order and a strong moral compass, Helen took pride in maintaining a clean and tidy home, often joking that part of her role was keeping her husband, Richard, in line.
Helen's spirit will be carried on by her beloved husband, Richard P. Bond, with whom she recently celebrated 66 years of marriage on September 20th. She also leaves behind her son Keith A. Bond and his wife Jane Plisko Bond; her 6 grandchildren Alan Bond and his wife Kayla, Eric Bond and his wife Jennifer, Danielle Bond, Allison Edwards and her husband Justin, LillyAnn Bond and Cooper Bond; and 4 great grandchildren Logan, Ryan, Tyler and Alena to cherish her memory.
A viewing for Helen will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Prayer service will promptly commence in the funeral home at 11:00 AM, with Pastor John Conover officiating. Graveside committal will immediately follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
While flowers are welcomed, the family invites those wishing to honor Helen’s memory to consider making a donation to Victory Baptist Church, 1059 Victory Circle, Reading, PA 19605, in recognition of her lifelong commitment to her faith and church community.
