Reverend Isaiah Cambers, 84, of Reading, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 16, 2018. He was the loving husband of Essie M. (Pryor) Cambers. The couple shared 52 years of marriage this April 15th.
Born in Glennville, GA on January 7, 1934, Isaiah was a son of the late Oscar, Sr. and Isabelle (Rogers) Cambers. He attended Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, FL before he joined the US Air Force. He proudly served during the Korean War.
Isaiah was called upon by God to do his ministry when he was 35 years old. His first church was Friendship Baptist Church in Pottstown where he was an Elder there for 16 years. The ministry called him to Reading Deliverance Church, where he last preached.
In addition to his wife, Essie; Isaiah leaves behind to cherish his memory, two sons: Gary L. Cambers and Victor D. Cambers, both of Reading: a daughter: Carla V. (Cambers) Taylor and her husband, Ishmael B. of Mt. Penn; 16 grandchildren: Clarence, Ramona, Johnnie, Tawanna, Nicole, Regina, Lyndsay-Elsie, Jourdin-Delane, Whitney, Tierra, Aaron, Anoh "Tyasia", Mahaliel, Aris, Sienna and Isaiah; eleven step grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 42 step great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; several step great great grandchildren; five sisters: Elizabeth A. (Cambers) Sanders, Winnell (Cambers) Baskin and her husband, Tommy Lee, Emma Jean (Cambers) Baskin and her husband, Isom, Ernestine (Cambers) Wali and her husband, Talib and Cathy (Cambers) Kennedy and her husband, David.
Also surviving are a God children: Mary Ann Lee, Calvin Scott, Jr., Calvinai Scott, Deboni Scott and Marie DeBooth and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Isaiah is predeceased by a son: Isaiah L. Cambers; a daughter: Corabelle (Cambers) Hawkins and her husband, the late Johnnie B.; a grandson, Victor Cambers, Jr.; three brothers: Oscar, Jr., Rufus and Ronnie Cambers and a sister, Nadine (Cambers) Ross.
Home Going services for Isaiah will be 10am, Monday, June 25, 2018 in God's Worship and Praise Temple, 459 Schuylkill Ave., Reading, PA 19601. A viewing will be Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 2 to 5pm in Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, PA 19601 and on Monday in church from 9 to 10am. Isaiah will be laid to rest with fellow comrades in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
