Born in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Janice was the beloved daughter of the late Elmer and Orpha (Varner) Lawson. She shared a loving marriage with her husband of 36 years, Paul E. Vogel, Jr., who preceded her in death on October 18, 2025. Together, they shared a quiet understanding that carried them through every season of life.
Janice was a woman of faith whose proudest accomplishment in life was raising her daughters. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories filled with unconditional love. She enjoyed shopping, completing puzzles, and playing solitaire, but nothing brought her more happiness than being with those she loved most. Her kind heart, gentle spirit, and caring nature will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Deborah K. (Mitchell) Kauffman and Tina M. (Ganster) Klemmer; her stepdaughter, Pamela J. (Vogel) Newman; her brothers, Clair Lawson, Lester Lawson, and Woody Lawson; and her cherished grandchildren, Alise, Andrew, Carson, Jeremy, Vincent, Joey, Brittany, Jennifer, Maddy and Jared. Janice was also blessed with many great-grandchildren whom she adored deeply.
In addition to her husband and parents, Janice was preceded in death by her daughter, Almira (Mitchell) Schmeer on August 31, 2024; her brother, Ron Lawson; and her sisters, Frances Sandofine, Loretta Lewis, and Bizz McCerdy.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Janice’s life on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Auman’s, Inc., Funeral Home, 391 W. Neversink Road, Reading, Pa. 19606. Interment at Berks County Memorial Gardens will be private.
Janice’s family will forever hold close the love, strength, and kindness she shared so freely throughout her life.
