Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Isabel (Lynch) Schaeffer.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Q. Ronald Young in 1966 and her second husband, William D. Reese in 2015
She graduated from Pottsville High School and Kutztown State Teachers College. She was an 8th grade English teacher in the Schuylkill Haven School District for 25+ years until retiring.
She was a member of the Pottsville Philanthropic Club. In her younger years she was very active in Schuylkill Haven civic organizations, where she was a volunteer driver. She was a life long member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she served on numerous committees, boards and was an active volunteer. She enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to many bridge clubs. She and her husband Bill enjoyed traveling and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Gregory Young and wife Pam and her daughter Cyndi Ryland, widow of Earl “Fritz” Ryland. Also surviving are her grandchildren Graham, Allison and Amanda Young, Christine Matson and Erik Ryland. Also, her great grandchildren, Violet and Scarlett Young, Alexandra Matson, Arianna, Easton and Wyatt Ryland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Jean Letcher.
Services and burial in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Pottsville will be private at the family’s convenience.
