He was employed as a security guard and then a youth counselor with the Children's Home of Reading for several years. After earning his degree and completing his training, he achieved his goal and proudly served as a deputy sheriff in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana.
In addition to his wife, he is proudly survived by his son, Joshua Lee Moatz of Reading. He is also survived by 2 brothers.
