

Martin M. Monson, Sr., 61, of Cumru Twp., passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long three year courageous fight with colon cancer on Saturday, June 16, 2012. He was the loving husband of Joyce (Reifsnyder) Monson.
Born in Chicago, IL on October 12, 1950, he was a son of the late Milton M. and Geraldine (Malone) Monson. He was a U.S. Naval veteran and served on the U.S.S. Independence from 1969 to 1973.
Martin was employed with Conrail\Norfolk Southern Railroad as a machine operator and repaired the railroad tracks for 37 years.
He was a member of the Sinking Spring VFW Post 6150, Lincoln Park Fire Co. and the Stoney Creek Athletic Association.
In addition to his wife, Joyce; Martin is survived by a son, Martin M. Monson, Jr. of West Reading and a daughter, Krystal M. Mellman, and her husband, Mark of Allentown; two grandchildren, Kalina and Kylie Mellman; a brother, John “Jack” F. Monson and his wife, Geraldine; a sister, Maureen A. McClelland; two nephews and two nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10am on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Auman’s Inc. Funeral Home, 390 W. Neversink Rd. Famliy and friends will be greeted at 9:00am at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow the Memorial Service in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
