Douglassville, died on Oct. 5
in Reading Hospital, where
he had been a patient for several weeks.
He was a widower of Betty
(Arters) Krebs, who died on June
6, 2004. They were married 58 years.
Born in Reading in 1920, he
was the son of Maynard C. and
Minnie (Fessler) Krebs, both deceased.
He was a graduate of Shillington
High School, Class of 1937.
Bob was active in Boy Scouts
from 1932 to 1956. He helped
start Troop 237 in Shillington in 1954.
He was also a member of Reber
Moore Post 235 Am-erican Legion
in Shillington for 63 years. Bob served
as Post Commander from 1955 to 1956.
Bob served in the U.S. Army Air Corps
and Seventh Air Force from 1941 to 1946
rising from Private to Captain.
After the war, he wrote his war
memories in three booklets, which have
been accepted into the Library of Congress,
Washington, D.C., and also the National
Library of American Legion, Indianapolis, IN.
His work history after the Air Force was:
National Cash Register for 27 years;
Berks Auto Ignition for 12 years; and
retiring from Boscovs Department Stores
after 15 years.
He was a member of Grace Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Shillington.
Surviving are two sons, Richard S.,
husband of Carolyn Krebs of Cumru Twp.,
and Scott A., husband of Kathy Krebs of
Mohnton; a grandson, Matt Evangelista
from Industry, PA; granddaughter, Amy
Katzenmoyer of Sinking Spring; and four
great grandchildren: Rebecca, Gabriella,
Aidan and Eric.
