Robert "Bob" Eugene Pendi, 88, of Exeter Township entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Reading Hospital - Tower Health. Born in Birdsboro, PA on November 08, 1936, was the cherished only son to the late Santo J. Pendi and Sandine M. (Madeira) Pendi.
A graduate of Birdsboro High School, class of 1955, Bob wasted no time in setting out on his journey. That same year, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving his country with dedication until his honorable discharge in 1963. Bob later built a career as a distribution designer, first with Met-Ed for a decade and then with GTE (now Verizon) for 20 years until his well-earned retirement in April 1998.
A man of faith, he was a member of Schwarzwald Lutheran Church.
But Bob was more than his career—he was a man with a passion for the things he loved. At the top of that list? His 2003 Z06 red Corvette, a car that was as bold and full of character as he was. And then there were his two beloved feline sidekicks, Vinnie and Fonzie, who kept him on his toes. Bob had a fiercely independent spirit, and an uncanny ability to strike up a conversation anywhere—because, somehow, he always knew someone, no matter where he went.
Bob's spirit will be carried on by his devoted wife of 37 years, Jean M. (Trostle) Pendi, whom he married on August 15, 1987. He is also survived by his 2 daughters, Kristina Smith (Scott) of Landisville, PA, and Jennifer Scott (James) of Lititz, PA; his stepdaughter, Tracy Rohrbach (Donald) of Birdsboro, PA; and his 2 sisters, Geraldine Barth and Eileen Henderson. Bob also leaves behind his 4 cherished grandchildren: Taylor Pettenati (Alex), Ethan Smith, Norah Scott, and Michael Willman. Of course, his ever-loyal feline companions, Vinnie and Fonzie, will miss him dearly.
In true Bob fashion, he preferred to keep things simple, so a private funeral service with military honors will be held at the discretion of his family. While he may have driven off into the sunset, those who knew him will forever hear the rumble of that Corvette’s engine and the echoes of his laughter in their hearts.
Rest in eternal peace, dear Bob.
