A 1985 graduate of Reading High School, Terry proudly served his country in the United States Army as a military police officer. Following his military service, he dedicated 24 years to working as a corrections officer at SCI Graterford, where he rose through the ranks to Sergeant before his well deserved retirement in 2013.
Terry was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan who somehow survived every season with equal parts loyalty, sarcasm, and yelling at the tv. He loved Star Wars, Groot from Marvel, who honestly matched Terry’s personality more than he probably wanted to admit, tough on the outside and soft in the middle. A true history buff, Terry could turn just about any conversation into a history lesson, whether you asked for one or not.
One of Terry’s favorite places to be was in the kitchen with his mom, Sandra, cooking Pennsylvania Dutch recipes and making enough food to feed an army. When he wasn’t cooking, he could usually be found birdwatching, relaxing on his back deck tending to his tomatoes, peppers, and herbs.
Terry had the kind of personality people gravitated toward. He was a big teddy bear with a huge heart, a sarcastic sense of humor, and a talent for making people laugh exactly when they needed it most. He loved having fun, never took life too seriously, and always found a way to make light of even the toughest situations.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him. Rest in eternal peace, dear Terry.
In addition to his parents, Terry’s memory will be cherished by his son, Daniel R. Seyler and his wife, Kayla; his daughter, Olivia R. Seyler; his sisters, Tammy Seyler-Ebersole and her husband, Keith, Rita Picerno, and Staci Olivencia; and his grandchildren, Kayda and Liam Seyler. He also leaves behind his beloved fur babies, Mia and Bubba; his best friend, Annette McManus; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss him dearly.
Terry was preceded in death by Richard Seyler and Bonnie Lynn Schneider.
