Edward W. Heffner 66, of Redding California passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital on February 8th, 2026 surrounded by family.
Ed was born July 31st 1959 at the Oakland Navel Hospital to parents Edward W. Heffner S. and Florence June Heffner. Ed was a child who overcame many difficult challenges growing up. Ed attended and graduated from Anderson Union High School. Ed had many different jobs, hay hauling, loading lumber onto trains, breaking semi truck brake shoes, he really enjoyed the physical types of work. Ed's final job was a delivery person for anteca Foods, he delivered products both local and afar. It was in the year of 1989 when his life changed with his biggest challenge, a motorcycle accident that caused him to become a paraplegic. After this event Ed was mostly a home body but had a great many of friends that he would visit with or talk to on his phone.
Ed really enjoyed fishing and hunting as a young person. Growing up there were many family camping trips, Yosemite was one of his favorite places to talk about. He would mention the spiritual feelings he always got when reflecting on the time at the park, Whiskeytown Lake and Shasta Lake were his two lakes he loved fishing. During childhood camping trips with family he had a kayak that would have him paddling from sun up until sun down. Duck hunting was his favorite hunting activity, waking up early, cold wet weather, off he'd go.
Edward is survived by his brother Mikel Heffner (Colleen), sisters Margo Browne (Jane Wheeler) and Marcia Caritj (Wally). Nephew, Justin (Ashlee) and Niece Ashley ( James). Girlfriend Mary Ruhe.
Edward had a big heart and was always willing to help any of his friends and family in need. His assistance was simply a phrase up to a hot meal.
Services will be held at Lawncrest Cemetery on E. Cypress.
Edward will be deeply missed but forever remembered and loved by his family and friends.
