Bill was born in a humble sod house outside of Amarillo, Texas. He was one of seven children. The family soon tired of homesteading and moved to Kentucky to farm tobacco. Bill graduated from high school which was rare in that part of the country. At 18 he took $2 he earned trapping rabbits and headed out to California. After various jobs over the years Bill returned to the agricultural life he had growing up. He purchased a ranch in Rio Vista to farm and raise sheep for the next 45 years. Bill met and married his wife Hazel Arnold and moved to Shasta Lake in 2000. Sadly Hazel passed away in 2004. He is survived by his sister Rupayne Akin of KY. Children, Betty Coloma of Shasta Lake and George Arnold of MN., nieces and nephews and grandchildren. Services will be held at Redding Memorial Park 1201 Continental Street, Redding June 1, 2011 at 2 p.m.
