

Larry Zipfel, 53, passed away at home in Redding, CA on January 9, 2011. He was born to Kenneth and Lauredia Zipfel on September 26, 1957. He has been a life long resident of the Redding Area and grew up with one younger sister, Kathy. Larry attended Juniper Elementary and Sequoia Middle School. He played football at Shasta High before graduating in 1976. He was active in the Boy Scouts as a child and continued to be involved as an adult. He worked on the Christmas Parade, helping the Boy Scouts with their floats and got involved with the F.F.A. He participated in their yearly auctions at the county fairgrounds. Larry is a member of the Cement Laborers Union. He has worked as a cement contractor his entire life.
He is survived by his mother Lauredia Thompson; sister Kathy Zipfel-Iverson; step-brothers David Thompson and his wife Julie, James Thompson and his wife Stephanie; step-sister Deanna Thompson; nephews Ben Iverson, Kenny Self; niece Mitchelli "Mikki" Zipfel; aunts, Joyce Kane and Bonnie Johnson; cousins, Valerie McFarland, David Johnson, Julie Johnson and many friends.
Larry is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Zipfel; grandparents Ralph and Daisy Johnson and Larry and Margaret Zipfel.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at Lawncrest Chapel in Redding (530-222-1587) on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the Builders Exchange. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity. Arrangements are in the care of Lawncrest Chapel in Redding, CA.
