

Lennis Mae Howell (maiden name Jackman), age 79, passed away in Redding, California on November 15, 2014, with her family by her side. She was a resident of Sierra Oaks Senior Living in Redding for the past year, but a long time resident of Anderson, California for more than 55 years. She passed due to complications of diabetes.
She was born April 23, 1935 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Clifford and Mary Jackman, now deceased. She was also predeceased by her infant
brother, Merlin. She married Verl L. Howell June 21, 1953 in Blackfoot, Idaho shortly after her high school graduation. They were married for 43 years before Verl passed away in 1996. They migrated to California in search of work in the late 1950's, ultimately settling in Anderson, CA.
Lennis worked in retail at Montgomery Wards, S&H Greenstamp and JC Penney’s in Redding for more than 15 years. In 1986, Verl and Lennis started their own business, Construction Tire Service, in which Lennis did the books after retiring from JCPenney.
She was a member of the Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association, for many years. She and Verl enjoyed showcasing their 1957 Pontiac Chieftain at many car shows in the area.
She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses; Jan Shelton of Anderson; Sherry Howell (Susan Herrgesell) of Cottonwood and Trish McGuire (George) of Cottonwood. Grandchildren include Brian Shelton, Stacey (Shelton) Crosswhite, Tiffini McGuire and Brittini (McGuire) Daily. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
Viewing is at Lawncrest in Redding November 24, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Chapel services immediately following the viewing at Lawncrest.
