Wayne was born on Aug. 28, 1937 in East Los Angeles to William McAndrews and Bonnie (Holloway) McAndrews. He graduated from Excelsior High School in Norwalk, and worked as a Newspaper Pressman for several years.
He married Betty (Hamilton) in at Norwalk Faith Reformed Church in March of 1959. They welcomed their son, William (Cindy) in 1960 and Colleen (Brent Morris) in 1962. He was proud of his five grandchildren . Daniel McAndrews, Lynnae Scheller, Dylan Morris, Kieran Morris and Nadia Morris,and nine great-grandchildren Spencer Wright, Lilian McAndrews, Rylee McAndrews, Landon McAndrews, Kinsley McAndrews, Parker Scheller, Ashlynne Scheller, Oliver Scheller and Daisy Morris.
He was an enthusiastic volunteer serving in many capacities at Bowman Community Church.; the Shasta County Sheriff Office, Good News Rescue Mission, Food Bank in Cottonwood, and held various offices with the Freedom Riders Chapter of the Christian Motorcyclist Association. He also enjoyed over 25 years as a FFL firearms dealer. He served in the Marine Reserves from 1956 to 1962.
Wayne became a Christian in 1968, about the time that he moved his family to Cottonwood. He has served the Lord in many capacities at Bowman Community Church; Elder, AWANA worker, Sunday School Teacher, Music Ministries and anywhere he could spread the gospel.
In addition to being a Newspaper Pressman, Wayne was a motorcycle mechanic and owner of Valley Cycle in Anderson, and ended his working career in 1999 from Simpson Paper Company.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 10:30 am. at Bowman Community Church.
