My dear cousin, Bev, I think of you all the times, we have been together, from the time, I was born, to the time you left all of us. You have been with me,  through all the years, growing up as my cousin, but to me you were always, my "sister", FOREVER. I was going to go up to see you, my dear, Bev but you went HOME before I got to visit this year.

I love you, my sweet Bev, I will join you someday, in the future, & please watch over cousin, Cathy, too. I will miss you forever but we will ALL MEET AGAIN!!

First, I would like to express my condolences to the immediately family as well as extended family and friends.  I met Karen in 7th grade and began spending time at the Shippee home on a weekly basis.  My most vivid memories are of hanging out in the kitchen talking.  Mrs. Shippee always with a novel in hand, glass of iced tea, and a non-filtered Pall Mall burning in the 70s gold ashtray.  Oh, goodness, this would not be a complete picture if I left out Jimmy serenading us in the background with his trumpet!  

For most of my adult life, Mrs. Shippee invited me into her home to spend the holidays with her family, and always had a box of fudge for me.  This kind gesture had a strong impact making me feel part of the family.  In recent years when the celebration moved to Margaret and Gordie's home, she still brought my box of fudge.  Although I never told her, I loved her very much and thought about her often.  Sure hope she knew.  I will miss her.  

One only needs to look at her children to know the depth of the person she was.  My personal belief is that Mr. and Mrs. Shippee are together, happy and very proud parents.

My sincere sympathy to the children and family of my dear friend, Bev.  I first met Bev in the late 1960's through a mutual friend.   For so many years you could find me every Monday night at Bev's house just talking and drinking tea or coffee.  As we both got older, and I moved out of the Redford area, we decided Wednesday nights would be a better evening to chat.  She was a great person and a wonderful friend to me.  I missed seeing Bev for our usual Wednesday evening get together because I suffered a heart attack in the fall of 2014 and the travel was just too much.  However, we were able to talk on the phone and I will forever cherish our good evening chats.  What a wonderful addition she was to this world.  I am going to miss her.  So many memories I can look back upon --- priceless.  Again, my sincerest sympathy.  Janice Hija

I am happy to have spent time with Granmma Beverly the week before she died and that we had the chance to talk and hug and kiss goodbye.

Our hearts are very sad to hear the news of Cousin Bev's passing. We will always remember her kind spirit and generosity. Such a lovely lady who adored her family! She will be greatly missed.

My cousin, Bev, was like a sister to me. She attended my high school graduation
, along with our grandfather, "Gumpy". My wife, Patty, met her when I attended college and Patty and  Bev visited me at the University of Florida. Bev visited us at our home in Florida several times, but she became unable to continue the visits because of her declining health. Our children, grand-children and Florida friends loving referred to her as "Cousin Bev". Recent attempts to contact Bev were fruitless and we were concerned about her well-being. Needless to say, Patty and I were saddened to hear from Margaret that Bev had passed away. We are thankful that her passing appeared to be peaceful.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Beverly (Grandma) Shippee. She opened her heart and home to the Duchein family, and welcomed us with warmth and respect. She was a genuine and sincere woman, who spoke with honesty and possessed a level of care and compassion that is rare in this world. She shared her love of family, laughter and life freely to all who were fortunate enough to cross her path and her kindness, intelligence and humor will be missed.

Our lives have been enriched by her presence and we will cherish out time spent with her.

Thank you, Beverly, for sharing with the world a life well-lived, a heart filled with love and laughter that will echo in our souls...until we meet again.
