

Gary Michael Rupp was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 9, 1943 to the late Elmer and the late Agnes Rupp. He was one of 3 children. Gary passed away peacefully in his Redford, Michigan home on September 28, 2016 at the age of 73.
Gary was the beloved husband of Charlotte for 52 years. Loving father of Gayle Emory, Duane (The late Shelley) Rupp, Kimberly (Michael) Bourdeau, and Tina Henry. Dear grandfather of Rachael (Brian) Cockfield, Louis Rupp, Courtney Emory, Savanna Rupp, Jonathan Henry, Justin Rupp, Sydney Henry, Cody Rupp, Amber Rupp, and Gracie King. Great-grandfather of Olivyia and Logan Cockfield. Dearest brother of Marjorie L. Rupp-Fisher and the late Leo R. Rupp.
Gary was a truck driver in the car hauling industry with the Teamsters Local 299 until he retired, however, he continued to work in the same industry as a yardman for many years following. He was a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard Reserves. He also was a proud Detroit Police Reserve Officer. He completed the Citizens Academy for the Redford Township Police Department in 2014 at the age of 71.
Gary was a fun-loving man who was passionate about his family and was an excellent role-model as he never smoked or excessively drank. He loved to slow-dance with his daughters, and teach his grandchildren the art of dipping Nutter-Butter's in coffee. He will be remembered for his love of comfort foods, such as cheese-balls, salmon patty's, creamed corn and especially chocolate ice-cream. He had an appreciating for nature and the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and target shooting.
His family will receive guests for a visitation from 12:00pm until 8:00pm, and will celebrate his life with a funeral service at 4:00pm on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Harry J. Will Funeral Home 25450 Plymouth Road, (Just east of Beech Daly) Redford Township, Michigan 48239. The funeral service will be led by Father Howard Vogan from St. Genevieve and St. Maurice Catholic Churches in Livonia, Michigan.
