Kim Marie Sunner passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13, 2026. Those who knew Kim know she would have had strong feelings about the irony of leaving us on Friday the 13th — likely throwing up her hands and declaring “Jesus Annie”.
Born in Iowa, Kim carried the warmth, resilience, and straightforward spirit of her Midwestern roots with her throughout her life. She later made Washington State her home, spending the latter half of her life surrounded by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
Kim built a meaningful career as an administrator for oncology practices, where she was known for her dedication, compassion, and steady presence. Her work supported both patients and medical teams during some of life’s most difficult moments, reflecting her deep empathy and quiet strength.
Outside of her career, Kim loved to travel and experience new places. She cherished time with family and found particular peace in the beauty of Puget Sound, whose waters she loved throughout the many years she called Washington home.
Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Kurt and Betty Sunner. She is survived by her children, Courtney, Christopher, and Christina, and by her nine beloved grandchildren, who brought her great pride and joy.
A small private family service will be held, during which Kim’s ashes will be sent off on the waters of the Sound she loved so much.
Kim will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and deep love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of care, perseverance, and memories that will be carried forward by those who loved her.
