Mary was born in Midway, BC on June 25, 1931 to Emilia and Louis Truden, recent immigrants from Slovenia. She was 85 years old when she passed away at the Snoqualmie Valley Hospital Rehab Center January 16, 2017.
Mary met the love of her life, Norman Edward Nylander, WWII veteran, and son of recent immigrant family from Sweden. They were married on June 23, 1948, and set off to start their new life together at Fall City Washington.
In Fall City Mary and Ed carried on their Slovenian and Swedish immigrant traditions, raising a big garden, chickens, ducks, cow and calf, churning butter, making bread, mushroom hunting, and cooking Slovenian specialties like Hungarian Goulash, Borsch, and Potica. Ed worked at the Weyerhaeuser Mill in Snoqualmie until he retired, and Mary devoted her time to homemaking. She worked outside the home for a few years at The Snoqualmie Falls Lodge, which she totally enjoyed. Together they raised 4 children.
Mary and Ed enjoyed going fishing, watching Mariners, Seahawks, and Husky games, horse racing, and the occasional casino trip.
She will be remembered by her husband, Norman Edward, children, Jennifer M Littke (Willis) of Fall City; Shirley A Corbaley (Craig) of Mukilteo, Debbie C Watkins (Don) of Westport and Calvin L Nylander of Fall City. 6 grandchildren, Kimberly Littke Hanft (Drew), Heather Claiborne (Andrew), Christina Corbaley, Eric Corbaley, James Gochanour (Vy) and Daniel Watkins (Jackie), and 4 great-grandchildren, Allan and Vivian Gochanour, Lewis and Spencer Hanft, and Baby Claiborne on the way in March. Mary is survived by her brother Lloyd Truden. Her brother Stan Truden preceded her in passing.
There will be a Graveside service at Cedar Lawns Memorial Park in Redmond on Monday Jan 30 at 1:00. The family suggests any donations to Fall City Fire Department for the Aid Car Fund.
