Born on April 28, 1945, in Yakima Washington, Sylvia grew up farming with her parents and siblings. After college, Sylvia began her career in airline reservations, where she served for many years on the employee association committee. Sylvia loved to travel and see new sights. During her career, she has traveled the world and continued to do so in retirement.
Sylvia spent countless hours volunteering, ranging from the homeowner’s association to the Snoqualmie Tribe (with her mother-in-law Sally). She also was a caretaker for Yoo Woo aka “Old Man Woo,” who was quite notable resident in Redmond until he passed. Sylvia spent time with the Redmond Historical Society and passed on her lived history of seeing Redmond grow from a sleepy little town to the city it is today.
Sylvia was not one to sit idle. She was incredibly talented and kept busy with numerous crafts. Aside from her avid volunteer work, she loved baking, gardening and being outdoors.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duniel L. Murillo “Don.” They are now happily reunited.
Sylvia has touched numerous lives and made countless lifelong friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from noon-2pm at Redmond City Hall. Friends and family are welcome to attend and share memories.
