Yanling Miller (nee Kuang), age 56, of Bellevue, Washington passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 in Bellevue, Washington. Yanling was born in Guangzhou, China, where she was the eldest of three children. Yanling loved people and was considering pursuing a career in television journalism as a newscaster. She also had an interest in foreign languages which led her to Japan in 1986 for her secondary studies, where she lived for 25 years. Yanling earned a batchelor's degree at Housei University and a Masters Degree at Yokohama City University, both in business administration.
She started her professional career in Tokyo and was an assistant marketing manager at NEC when she met her husband. This started a new chapter in her life and her son Thomas was born in 2009. The family moved from Tokyo to Luxembourg in 2012 where they lived for 5 years. Yanling thoroughly enjoyed her new surroundings and explored the countries and languages available and she thrived in the multicultural and international environment that Luxembourg offers, making friends from all over. The family traversed the continent from Sweden to Spain and from Belgium to Lichtenstein by car and shared treasured moments in Edinburgh and Cagliari as well.
The family moved to the US in 2017 to explore a new environment and set of opportunities. Once again Yanling thrived, enjoying the diversity of culture and people that Bellevue, Washington had to offer. She immersed herself into language and cultural programs and volunteered in class and as a class parent at her son's various schools. She was proud of her son's acceptance at The Lakeside school and was looking forward to serving that community through his secondary school years.
Yanling was interested in healthy lifestyles and enjoyed dressing well. She loved her family first and foremost and was always concerned with the well being and comfort of others. She genuinely cared about people, was always bearing a gift and was liked by everyone she met.
