Glorious Deen Gaines known by family and friends as Little Sis, Sis, and Gloria was born on May 17, 1954 in Forrest City, Arkansas to the late Ernest and Juanita Gaines. She was the fourth of eight children born to this union.
During her first six years of life in Forrest City, Arkansas, Gloria was known as a tomboy because she followed behind her two older brothers, Melvin and Lee Freddie Gaines: the three of which came to be known in the community as the “Gaines Busters”.
In 1961, the family relocated to East Palo Alto, California where Gloria attended local public schools. She attended Ravenswood High School in E. Palo Alto, CA and during this time she was a member of a three girl pop singing group who often performed in the Central Valley. She graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1972.
On March 11, 2010, Gloria’s 55-year journey on this earth came to a close. Although Gloria never married or had children of her own, she was loved by her very large immediate and extended family. Those remaining on earth and cherishing her memory are: sisters, Erma Williams (James), Diana Myles, Agnes Bishop, and Narvella Gaines; her brothers, Melvin Gaines (Wilma), Lee Freddie Gaines, and Terry Lee Gaines; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
