Rose Camahort Korsak

Rose (Rosa) Camahort Korsak of Emerald Hills, California, passed away on September 21, 2013, she was 74. Rosa was born in Manila, Philippines, and was educated at La Consolación College where she earned an Associate Degree in Secretarial Studies. She emigrated to California after a visit to her elder brother (late José Camahort) in Berkeley in 1963. Rosa was an Executive Office Assistant at Cañada College in Redwood City for 25 years. She worked in both the Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) office and later in the English Institute, where she assisted adults in the community in English language learning and career development. Rosa was recognized on multiple occasions by the San Mateo County Community College District, the Associated Students, the staff of the EOPS, the Latin American Club, and the English Institute of Cañada College for her exemplary service, dedication, and devotion to the students of Cañada College, especially adult learners of English. Rosa was also an active supporter of Veterans' and Children's organizations. Mrs. Korsak is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dr. Andrew Korsak of Emerald Hills, son Casey Korsak of Palo Alto, daughters Katherine Korsak of New York and Andrea Katkow (Larry) of Ellicott City, Maryland, granddaughters Emilia (7) and Lili (3), 5 siblings (Isabel Yrure, Ana Valenzuela, Marie Heltzel, Juan Camahort, and Maria Rodriguez), and 32 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 1pm at Redwood Chapel, 847 Woodside Road in Redwood City. Visitation and viewing will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Menlo Park. A reception will follow at the home of Desi and Maria Rodriguez, 15 Woodhill Drive in Redwood City.
